Free The Web
What is it?
Free The Web is a Chrome extension that blocks all those annoying popups about cookies, privacy and GDPR.
Because your time and attention are too valuable to waste clicking hundreds of those a week, and they make the
Internet as a whole less usable.
How does it work?
It applies general and targeted rules via CSS and JS. For the general rule sets, the CSS ones hide
items that are probably related to privacy (HTML elements named "gdpr", "privacy");
the JS ones auto-click buttons with titles such as "I agree" or "I understand".
The targeted sets of both CSS and JS apply themselves to known privacy elements or buttons.
The rule set was built by looking up top websites by traffic, and will be more
effective on larger websites overall.
Based on user feedback, the rules will be expanded over time to accommodate more pages.
